How To Meditate For Beginners
Meditation has long been used by many different cultures for both its mental and physical healing benefits as well as the inner-peace and sense of tranquility it induces.
As science has evolved so has our understanding of the benefits associated with meditation.The problem with modern day living is that we have become to reliant on prescription medicines and ailments to “supposedly” cure us.
It's important to realize that pharmaceutical companies are a financial powerhouse and a driving force behind our global economy!
They carry a lot of weight and are heavily publicized and over-emphasized!
They do not want the average person to turn down there over-priced pills in favor of more “organic” or natural means of healing!
If you're in search of finding natural means to improve both your mental and physical well-being then meditating has to be one of the most efficient practices anyone can apply in their life.
Learning how to meditate for beginners is straight-forward and there's no reason why everyone should not at least give it a try. It costs nothing and the benefits are tenfold!
Basic Meditation Practice For Beginners
Although there are literal thousands if not tens of thousands of different types of meditation the most simple form of meditation to get started is simple and effective enough.
Is there a right or wrong way?
Yes and No!
Everyone has their own preferences but there are certain procedures you must acknowledge and apply if you are new to meditating.
The following steps are one of the simplest forms of meditation for beginners that you can put to use immediately.
1. Get yourself into a comfortable position, either laid or laying down preferably. Try to ensure that you have minimal distractions.
Some like to play soft music or listen to binaural beats for meditation but if you're new to meditating I would suggest meditating in a quite atmosphere.
2. This step is tricky, although key to meditating effectively! You need to clear your mind of any distractions. This can indeed be tough especially if you have a lot going on in your life.
This will get easier with practice and towards the end of this article I'll reveal a technique I use which is extremely effective.
3. Allow your body to relax and release any tension. This again can be tricky dependent on how you're feeling prior to meditating but just relax and allow your muscles to unwind and release any tension.
4. Once you're feeling comfortable and relaxed you want to concentrate on your breathing. By concentrate I mean actually focus and pay attention to your breathing.
Take deep breaths through through the nose and exhale completely through the nose completely filling and then clearing your lungs.
Of course be sensible, there's no need to hyper-ventilate or such like!
Just take deep breaths in a relaxed manner, nice and slow, do not strain yourself and remember to pay attention to your breathing!
5 . Simply repeat this process for around 15 mins or as long as you like but I recommend a minimum of 15 mins.
Remember the goal here is to free your mind from your daily worries and anxieties. If foreign thoughts creep into your mind during your meditation process then revert back to focusing heavily on your breathing.
Top Tip For Staying Focused: This is a technique that has been used by many different cultures and civilizations to help them learn to stay focused during meditation.
Basically you want to focus your attention on ONE single object and remain focused on this object.
I recommend lighting a candle and solely focusing on the flame of the candle. Never take your eye off it! Watch it burn and acknowledge only that flame as if your life depended on it.
